The Tower of London is well known all over the, it has been a royal palace, a prison
and a place of execution over the past 1000 years. Some of the most famous names,
second wife of Henry VIII , Queen Anne Boleyn executed by beheading on 19th May 1536. William Wallace ( 1305 ) . Sir Walter Raleigh, first imprisoned for 13 years then released but eventually executed ( 1618 )
Today it houses the Crown Jewels and is keeper to the Royal Ravens. The ravens are flightless birds due to the fact their wings are clipped and this tradition points to the superstition that the English still believe dating back from the time of Charge II that when there are no longer ravens in the Tower both the White Tower and the Commonwealth of England would fall.
